Mon Jul 2nd – More practice with Subtraction sums

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: To Practice subtractions

SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will be able to solve all questions without using a calculator

ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY: Loop Cards – Level G Subtraction

LESSON: Students to work through either 3 digit subtractions, or 3digit/2 dp subtraction worksheets

Olivia & Alex to work through level F loop cards on subtractions.

Mon 25th / Weds 17th – Exercises to consolidate Work oin Functions

LEARNING OBJECTVIE: Practice solving problems on functions

SUCCESS CRITERIA: After completing all the work in Chapter 2 you should be able to:

  • Represent a mapping by a diagram, an equation or a graph
  • Understand the terms: FUNCTION, DOMAIN and RANGE
  • Combine two or more functions to make a composite function
  • Know the diference between a 'one to one' and a 'many to one' function
  • Know how to find the inverse of a function
  • Know the relationship between the graph of a function and its inverse

LESSON: Work through Ex 2c,2d and 2E

If appropriate (ie are students ready) Work through a revision lesson on Transforming graphs

Also possible extension work is

Lesson on odd, even and periodic functions

Modulus graphs

Mon 25th Jun – More work on speed/distance time graphs

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: To understand and be able to interpret both Speed/Time graphs and velocity/time graphs

SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will be able to solve higher level exam questions involving speed/time and velocity time graphs

Weds Jun 19th/ Fri 21st – Angle Properties of Quadrilaterals

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: To understand and use the angle properties of quadrilaterals to solve problems

SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will be able to remember (or work out) the angle properties of all quadrilaterals and then use them to solve problems

ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY:

LESSON: Use this lesson to investigate the properties of Quadrilaterals. Try to get them to understand questions like Are all squares parallelograms? Are all rectangle parallelograms, are all squares rectangles.....

Get students to make their own notes on each of the properties of each of the 6 quadrilaterals.
